...or my extensive blogging history, it all dates back to 1:55pm, when I read this post on some cephalophile's site. (No, I don't mean these guys, though they do have nice hair and dour expressions.) In it, this "Peezee" fellow (who uses an acronym for his first name, can you believe it?) amusingly gives an admirer a "+3 Vorpal Sword!"
I immediately corrected him, of course, because as we all know, ALL Vorpal Swords are considered +3 magical items, so his specific mentioning of that was both unnecessary and potentially misleading! If you wish to check yourselves, I brushed the Cheeto dust (actually, a generic clone... Cheetos are expensive!) off my Official Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master's Guide (by Gary Gygax, copyright 1979) to locate the entry on page 166. The true power of Sword, Vorpal Weapon--of course--comes from its ability to sever the head from a foe on a critical strike, which for most foes will evidently make it harder for them to fight back, being dead. (Hope to roll a better initiative!)
I am glad to have the opportunity to correct Mr. Peezee on this matter, and at last put my blog's name to good use!

Second post!
I just realized that there was very little chance my first post could be claimed by anyone else, so that diminishes my accomplishment somewhat. I almost don't feel like ending this with an exclamation point!
